BEYOND TRANSLATION
Localization Quality Assurance is about making sure that translated content works naturally and correctly inside the actual game.
As a native Castilian Spanish speaker, I review localized content in context rather than treating individual strings as isolated pieces of text.
I look for linguistic, contextual and presentation issues that can affect the player's understanding and overall experience.
WHAT I CHECK
- Castilian Spanish Accuracy
- Grammar & Spelling
- Terminology Consistency
- Contextual Accuracy
- Character Voice & Tone
- UI Text & Readability
- Text Truncation & Overflow
- Menus, HUD & Interface Elements
- Names, Items & Ability Terminology
- Localization Bugs
IN-GAME CONTEXT
A translation can be linguistically correct while still being wrong for the context in which it appears.
I therefore review localized content alongside the game, taking into account the character speaking, the situation, the surrounding interface and the intended meaning.
This is particularly important for games where terminology, character personality and UI limitations can significantly affect how a translation should be written.
UI & READABILITY
Localization issues are not limited to incorrect words. Translated text can also create visual and usability problems when it does not fit correctly within the interface.
- Text cut-off
- Overflowing text
- Broken line breaks
- Incorrect button labels
- Misaligned text
- Inconsistent terminology
- Unreadable or unclear localized UI
CASTILIAN SPANISH
My focus is specifically Spanish as used in Spain, including natural vocabulary, grammar, terminology and tone appropriate for a European Spanish audience.
Where appropriate, I can also review an existing Latin American Spanish localization and identify areas that would need adaptation for a Castilian Spanish release.
LQA + PLAYER EXPERIENCE
My background in Gameplay Experience QA also allows me to look at localization from the player's perspective.
I can identify situations where a translation is technically correct but still confusing, unnatural, misleading or inconsistent with the gameplay experience.
This combination of linguistic and player-focused testing is particularly useful for games where text is closely connected to mechanics, puzzles, tutorials or progression.
REPORTING
Localization findings can be documented clearly so that developers can identify the affected text, understand the issue and apply the appropriate correction.
- Localization issue descriptions
- Context and explanation
- Suggested Castilian Spanish corrections
- Terminology recommendations
- UI presentation observations
- Severity / player impact when relevant
- Reproduction information for contextual issues
EXPERIENCE
I have contributed Castilian Spanish LQA to multiple indie projects across different genres, including horror, JRPG, simulation and narrative games.
My credited LQA projects include Carnival Roulette, Late Night Duty, Shadowrite and Oops! Inc. Emergency Center.
